Jennifer Schmitz, MSN, EMT-P, CEN, CPEN, FNP-C, NE-BC, has spent her career with a focus on emergency nursing. She has held a variety of roles including staff nurse, charge nurse, nurse educator, nurse manager, nursing director and most recently, as the Chief Nursing Officer for Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford, Maine.

Jennifer has more than two decades of experience in nursing, healthcare leadership, clinical and operations leadership that she brings to every one of her clients. She has a transformational leadership style, working to develop each team member to the highest level. Jennifer works with healthcare organizations across the country to enhance their teams, improve the work environment, improve employee engagement, and deliver a stronger patient experience.

Jennifer has an associate degree in paramedicine from Southern Maine Community College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Maine in Portland, Maine, and later completed her master’s as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Husson University in Bangor, Maine, certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Jennifer later completed her post-master’s certificate in Executive Leadership from Cornell. She is a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN), a Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) and a Board-Certified Nurse Executive (NE-BC). 

Jennifer is a member of multiple industry associations including the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Organization of Nurse Leaders (AONL) and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She held the position of the ENA President in 2022.

Jenn is thrilled to be part of Engage and looks forward to utilizing her experience to provide solutions to improve the work environment of emergency nurses.

Jenn lives in Cape Elizabeth, Maine with her husband, five children, 2 dogs, 4 cats and a horse! She enjoys time with her family, animals and Friday night lights!
